June 2025 Update

Beauty Ever-Ancient, Ever-New

As the hot days of summer descend upon us, the work of the Strategic Planning Committee continues. On Tuesday, June 4th, the group met at the Wheeler-Evens House in Oviedo and worked through the drafts of the introduction to the plan, the vision statement, and the mission statement for Incarnation. I am including the latest drafts of these parts of the plan so that you can take a look and give your thoughts and ideas about these documents before they are finalized.

I hope you will be able to see the guiding hand of the Holy Spirit in these documents. Church members attending the planning sessions have noted that the proposed vision and mission remain true to the vision and mission of Incarnation Oviedo at the time the church was planted in 2006. Most of the church members participating in the planning process were not members of the church in 2006, yet those original core values have been affirmed in this new planning document. In 2006, Incarnation was guided by the phrase “An ancient faith for a modern world.” In the 2025 to 2028 version of the Incarnation Strategic Plan, we turn to the words of St. Augustine of Hippo written in the third century as our foundation: “Beauty ever-ancient, ever-new.” In this context, beauty refers to God and the church.

I pray you will take the time to read this first draft of our vision and mission. Please make comments and give us your ideas. I can be reached at phil@incarnationcfl.com.
